AKAI S3000 XL Sampler
The ace sampler from AKAI, following in the footsteps of earlier A-series samplers.
Each new sampler in this series had more memory, more extensibility, more disk space
(or just had disk space) and more features. The A3000 has great sound quality
and still plenty of memory for demanding mellotron samples. And mellotron samples is
the reason I need it. As much as I love the M400, it can be impractical to take along
and can be unreliable. Enter the S3000 for guaranteed delivery.
Features:
- 32 voices polyphony
- SCSI-bus
- Internal 2Gb HD.
- 2 up to 32 MB RAM
- Effects unit
- 2 inputs, 8 outputs
- 44.1kHz sampling, 16-bit
- SPDIF I/O
- 16-channels MIDI
- MIDI I/O/Thru
Samples:
Watcher of the Skies played on the S3000XL, with string samples of
my mellotron M400 and someone elses M400 brass. The sound is played through the S3000 internal
rotary effect. Compare with the WatchMe sample of the Korg 05R/W.
